Although the race didn't go to plan, Amanda and I had a great weekend catching up with friends. Chris and Linsey flew in from Montana, Rob and Irene were in town from Vegas and Holly came up from East Bay to hang out.
Camping wasn't as easy this year as the last time we were came to Vineman when Amanda raced. We eventually found a nice camp ground in the Alexander Valley but a long way from the race start. It was located on a beautiful bend in the Russian River but unfortunately there was a lot of people there to party and it kept us awake for most the night before the race.
One the highlights had to be dinner at the Dry Creek Hotel restaurant in the beautiful town of Healdsburg. It was a massive switch in dining experience from the camp sight dinner we had the night before. The food and wine was AMAZING!
After the race we went to the Brogan Estate to do some wine tasting. We were initially shocked we were in a garage (rather than a traditional tasting room) but we soon did some tasting and had lots of fun.
Vineman has definitely shot to the top of my favorite triathlons (even though I had a shocker of a race) it was the whole weekend with good company that made it a great time. I can't wait till next year!

56 miles of this on the bike never gets boring!

Pre race Carbo load at the Bear Republic Brewery. Hanging with Joe
