BUSY DAY IN THE VILLE

It was a busy busy day in Louisville today! This morning Amanda and I got in a quick one hour spin on the bike before it was time to hit the press conference, pro briefing, photoshoot, Ironman interviews and Universal/ NBC interviews. 5 hours in total, it's like we just finished a race!

I got a good afternoon swim in at the University of Louisville. I have been to a lot of universities in the USA but the Cardinals do it big! Wow ... they have some amazing facilities and it would be a great place do go to school. They claim to be the number one college sports town in the USA and you can see why. I now refer to Louisville as "the ville" as it seemed like the common theme around the university grounds.

Just rocked in from a run along the Ohio river with my mate Joe. Lot's of live music going on and a beautiful balmy evening. Great way to end the day! Time for dinner then an early night. Only 36 hours till race start!

Luke McKenzie

Luke McKenzieMcKenzie has won two Ironman races already this year (Malaysia and Japan) and is certainly one of the favorites coming into Sunday's race. During today's presser we learned that he and long-time girlfriend Amanda Balding are now engaged – McKenzie popped the question in New York a little while ago.

The two have spent much of the summer driving around the United States in a camper van and are coming off a hard training stint in Bend, Oregon.

“It's a hard one training for this race and Hawaii at the same time,” McKenzie said. One of my big goals is to win an Ironman here in the United States. I think Louisville is the perfect race for me – it's a tough bike course and it's hot.

McKenzie also pointed out to us that the last two times he's raced Longree (at the Ford Ironman World Championship), the German has passed him during the marathon.
