Day one of the road trip from Phoenix, AZ to Boulder, Co got off to a slow start due to my bike box not arriving the previous night on my flight from San Francisco. Once it had arrived and we picked it up we were on our way and just in time because it was the beginnings of a very hot day! We drove straight to the Grand Canyon and got there quicker than expected. I don't think words can descibe the Grand Canyon .... it is truely a sight you need to see in person. I took a lot of photo's but pictures just don't do the place justice. Clarky and I had great fun exploring the little trails and overlooks along the south rim. After lunch we kept the ball rolling and headed for Monument Valley on the Arizona Utah border. We arrived about 1 hour before sunset and set up our tent at the Gouldings campground. We got a great site overlooking the valley. We went for a drive around the monuments as the sun was setting and then headed back to have a BBQ dinner and a few Coronas. Great day! Day 1 - 450 miles. Phoenix to Monument Valley via Grand Canyon
