It really saddens me to hear that the Hawaiian Ironman, the "Holy Grail" of our sport maybe no more! As a younger, up and coming Ironman athlete I have dreamed of the day I would line up at the pier at Kailua Kona. Sadly I may never get this chance if the decision to move the event was to go ahead.
I believe that the Kona is not only the identity of Ironman but for triathlon worldwide in general. You ask any person walking down the street about the sport of triathlon and they will know about that infamous Ironman in Hawaii!
Moving the Ironman from Kona is not an option .... let's save the Hawaii Ironman because it is the identity of our sport!
