3 DAYS IN SYDNEY

Howzit

Shelli and I have just returned from a great weekend away in Sydney. It was a short trip but we jammed in the action over the few days we were there. We arrived on Friday morning and went straight to our accommodation at Bondi. I had booked us a hotel room right on the world famous Bondi Beach so we would be in the thick of the action. Once we got settled in our room we went for a wonder around the area, checked out the beach, shops and the cliff walk and grabbed a coffee. In the evening we caught the train into Circular Quay and strolled around the Opera House, the Rocks and the Harbour Bridge. It was a lovely evening and we had a great time watching the sun set over the harbour and city and the lights bringing extra life to the CBD.

Saturday morning (early Saturday morning!!!) Good mate Matt Clark came and picked me up to go for a ride. We drove from Bondi to Cronulla to start the ride south. It was a beautiful morning and riding through the Royal National Park was really nice. The view from Bulli Pass was spectacular and the decent down into the city of Wollongong was even more so. Stopping for a quick coffee in the seaside town of Thirroul we then headed North towards Sydney along the scenic winding roads of the Royal National Park. Stopping for a quick breath and a glimpse from Bald Hill at Stanwell Park was another highlight of a great ride. It was one of those rides that was so enjoyable time just seems to fly by and our 130km trip didn't seem too bad at all.

Saturday afternoon consisted of a bit of shopping back in Bondi. We meet up with Shell's friend Kristina who lives in the gorgeous Double Bay. After a few hours of shopping we headed down to Bondi for a lovely Italian dinner and a night out at the Bondi Beach Hotel. A dress up party with the theme "rescuers" was the entertainment for the evening and although we weren't in dress up we went anyway and had an awesome time!

Sunday morning was a sleep in and a lazy breakfast down at the quaint village center of Double Bay. More shopping at Bondi Junction was preceeded by another trip down to Bondi Beach for a quick swim in the surf. Wow .... Bondi Beach was alive! It was all happening on a Sunday afternoon. The weather was perfect and the ocean was nice and refreshing. Almost time to head to the airport we stopped in for a quick bight to eat and a drink at the Golden Shief Hotel back in Double Bay. It had a great little beer garden out the back with some live music .... I could have sat there for hours! 8pm it was time to pack up and get our taxi to the airport.

It was a whirlwind trip but a really great time. I can't wait to do it again sometime soon. This week I have a little bit of training to catch up on that didn't get done in Sydney ...opps!

Check back soon for more adventures!
