KAWARA SCHOOL VISIT

Today Amanda and I were guests at Kawara primary school in a remote corner on the island of Fukue (Goto Fukue) . The students aged 6-11 years old greeted us with signs (with our name and race numbers) and sang us an "Ironman" song! We talked about life as an Ironman triathlete (it was perfectly translated by our homestay and friend, Junko) and we did some fun activities with them including a relay race and some stretching (very entertaining!)

At the end of the visit we were presented with a flag each that the students had written messages of good luck (some in Japanese and some even in English!) Then we had to exit the build while signing what seemed like hundreds of autographs!

It really was a very great experience and something both Amanda and I would like to do more often as we travel around the world racing. We are in the early stages of creating such a program and we will make more announcements soon about the details.
